
Australian art orchestra chose Teea Aarnio in their mentorship program in 2024. She was mentored by composer, artist and songwriter Bumpy (in the picture above).
Noongar and Naarm-based artist Bumpy has lately collaborated with AAO relating to The First Nations Artist Residency Program. The First Nations Artist Residency Program is an artistic and professional development initiative presented in partnership between the Melbourne International Jazz Festival (MIJF) and the Australian Art Orchestra (AAO). AAA provided the mentorship program for young artists to have meetings with AAO’s artist team.

‘THE TREE OF LIFE SWAYS’

‘Huojuu elämän puu’ is simultaneously a stage work, a concert and a performance that enables a communal gathering around poetry. The themes of peace, war, violence and freedom run through the performance.
The interdisciplinary performance highlights poetry as a visible social resource and features the work of twenty poets, from Katri Vala to Bo Carpelan and Eeva-Liisa Manner to Niillas Holmberg, with compositions and arrangements by Kaj Chydenius, Eero Ojanen, Anna-Mari Kähärä, Teea Aarnio and Antti Kujanpää.
The planning and realisation of ‘Huojuu elämän puu’ is by Marja-Leena Mikkola, author, Ulla-Maija Peltonen, docent, and five performers: Teea Aarnio, Kristiina Halkola, Vuokko Hovatta, Antti Kujanpää and Jussi Lehtonen.
